Akko is not behind when it comes to manufacturing keyboards. One of their latest products, the Akko MOD007B PC has been the talk of the town and it certainly lives up to the expectations.

This board is from the "World Tour" series and the color-themes and designs are sublime!

 Akko MOD007B PC review

The MOD007B PC, currently, has two variants: Tokyo and Santorini. The former has a pink theme while the latter rocks blue. The keyboard is well-built and has a super-smooth actuation thanks to the adjustable magnetic switches. The board is also hot-swappable for 3-pin switches and has everything a gamer requires.

Whether it is the N-key rollover, disabled Winlock option, low latency, rapid trigger, and RGB backlighting, you'll find it all on this board.

I've had the opportunity to use the keyboard personally, so the review is coming from someone experienced.

Design

The MOD007B PC is a 75% keyboard with a Cherry profile (Santorini) or OEM profile (Tokyo) which makes it great for both gaming and typing as well. The front of the keyboard is very beautiful, to say the least.

On the Santorini variant, you will have designing on the Space-bar, Enter, Shift, and Esc keys, while a few other keys will be colored blue.

If you get the Tokyo variant, your Spacebar will have the Mount Fuji design, and a few keys will be colored pink. Moreover, the alphabets will have their Japanese counterparts as well.

The keyboard also has a knob on the top-right for volume control which looks pretty cool.

Lastly, the keyboard uses gasket mounting for a cushioned and more flexible typing experience. You can type on for hours and your fingers won't feel a thing!

Build Quality

The build quality of the board is pretty solid, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't be careful. Don't drop the keyboard or smack it often, otherwise, there can be some consequences.

The keycaps are double-shot PBTs with shine-through, a clean design, and thick edges. The keyboard weighs around 1 KG.

Switches

The MOD007B PC comes with two switches: The Cream Yellow Magnetic Switches and the Kailh Sakura Pink Magnetic Switches. Here are the specifications for both:

Cream Yellow Magnetic Switches

  • Type: Linear
  • Actuation Force: 50 g
  • Pre-Travel: 2.0 mm
  • Total Travel: 4.0 mm

Kailh Sakura Pink Magnetic Switches

  • Type: Linear
  • Actuation Force: 50 g
  • Pre-Travel: 2.0 mm
  • Total Travel: 4.0 mm

The best thing about the keys is that they use a small magnet in their stem with a Hall Effect sensor in their circuit board.

This allows you to adjust the actuation point of these switches to be anywhere between 0.1 mm to 0.4 mm.

Moreover, the keyboard also has a feature called "Rapid Trigger." This basically removes any delay in the switch for resetting and immediately resets it for repeated keystrokes.

Safe to say, this can be a game-changer while gaming!

Compatibility

The keyboard, unsurprisingly, is compatible with both Windows and macOS. In short, you can use it with both your PC or Mac computer without any issues.

Moreover, it can connect to your laptop and enhance your typing experience. I've been writing with this board myself and it has been some experience!

Not only that! If you like, you can use the keyboard with your mobile and tablet as well. Its multiple connectivity options are great for multi-tasking.

Connectivity

The MOD007B PC comes with multiple connectivity options. You can connect the board to your computer/tablet/mobile via:

  • Bluetooth
  • USB wireless adapter (2.4 GHz with 1000 Hz polling rate)
  • USB Type-C cable

So if the battery is running low, you always have the wired connection option. Besides, the wireless connections also have low latency and you won't feel any delays in your work.

Battery

The battery is 3600 mAh and it can last for a day on normal usage. On the other hand, if you use the keyboard for continuous gaming, the battery might give out in 8-12 hours.

Nevertheless, you'll always have the option to use the board wirelessly.

Typing Experience

The typing experience you'll get with the MOD007B PC will be second to none. The great thing is that you can adjust the actuation of the switches to be exactly according to your preference.

I usually prefer writing with a 2 mm actuation instead of going ultra-light or too heavy. Similarly, you can adjust it however you like!

You can download the Akko driver to program your keys, customize backlighting, set up macros, and more.

Gaming Experience

I have had the opportunity to play on numerous gaming keyboards, and the MOD007B PC is right up there! A lot of it has to do with its magnetic switches and gasket mount design which makes the keystrokes super fast and smooth.

Whether you're playing FPS games or MOBA, the keyboard won't disappoint at all. On the contrary, it will exceed your expectations. The RGB lights look great and they can be customized too.

Furthermore, the Rapid Trigger feature gives you an edge over your enemies, and we all know how important even a millisecond is while gaming.

So all in all, this keyboard from Akko is a must-have in the mid-price range!

Akko MOD007 PC - Features and Overall Impressions

The MOD007B PC is flawless in dealing with every task thrown at it.

Whether it is high-paced gaming, programming, or typing blogs, the keyboard handles all of them without any issues! It is one of those keyboards that are suitable for anyone.

I have personally used it for typing since it's the main part of my work.

However, the keyboard is just as good, or even better while using it for gaming. You can say goodbye to dying cheaply in-game because of a keypress delay.

Here are some of its stand-out features:

  • Hall Effect Magnetic Switches: The keys rely on magnets for their actuation and this actuation point is adjustable from 0.1 mm to 4 mm.
  • Rapid Trigger Tech: This feature resets the key immediately for the next keystroke without any delay. This allows rapid repeated keystrokes.
  • Dynamic Keystrokes: Pressing a single key can trigger four multiple operations, depending on the force exerted. For instance, a light press will trigger action 1, a deeper press will trigger action 2, and a similar will be the case for releasing the key.
  • Gasket Mount Design: This makes the typing experience smooth and cushioned.
Hot-swappable Design: The keyboard is compatible with any 3-pin mechanical switches.
  • On-Board Memory: Every setting you make is saved in the on-board memory and there's no need for any external software.
  • Multimedia Knob: The knob on the top-right lets you adjust the volume and the brightness of the RGB lights.
  • Driver Support: The Akko driver lets you record macros, assign tasks to keys, rearrange keys, customize backlighting, and more.

All of this combines to make the Akko MOD007B PC one of the best gaming keyboards to get at the moment. From its design to its performance, everything is top-notch!
